Gremlin arrived in the summer and she was frightened of everything. She would sit near a door to the garden and not join the rest of the family in the lounge. As she would not take treats, accept any physical fuss or play with any toys it was impossible to reward her for any particular behaviour or help her feel safe. The only thing to do was let her realise in her own time that she was safe and that food would arrive every day. (It is believed that where she had been previously they were only fed every 3 days 😢.)
Going for a walk was a whole new experience for her and on that she was not going to be rushed with. The following videos show how she would not even leave the garage on the lead at first and so instead we simply sat on the front path building confidence and getting used to the outside world. This was one session of over an hour and we only made it about 100 metres but this was a huge achievement for her.
